Graphic noveling, 101

This coming Saturday Enrichment series, 2017, I'm taking narrative game design to the next level using Twine 2 to expose 4th and 5th graders to html and CSS to build multi story lines. We'll also use Kodu, as well, to add a rich graphical depiction to stories created on Twine. And to get the creative juices flowing, we'll jump into cartoon design as "graphic novels" and use the animated short, Piper (from Finding Dory) as a story design case study. And check out this cool PBS news story about Graphic novelist Gene Luen Yang, a MacArthur Fellowship winner who used that award to start his national ambassadorship for young people’s literature and is the co-author of the graphic novel "Secret Coder" series. He ties story design to computer programming so that kids see the fun and purpose of how these 2 disciplines work together.
