Computers 4 kids spring 2024 showcase recap!
The accelerometer sensor measures constant (gravity), time varying (vibrations) and quasi static (tilt) acceleration forces, which affect the device on the three axes (x, y and z) in meter per second squared (m/s2) [14]
[Bluetooth ... exchanges] ... data between fixed and mobile devices over short distances and building personal area networks. In the most widely used mode, transmission power is limited to 2.5 milliwatts, giving it a very short range of up to 10 meters.
In mathematics, a variable is a symbol that represents a mathematical object. A variable may represent a number, a vector, a matrix, a function, the argument of a function, a set, or an element of a set
and make native phone and iPad features ("tilt", "shake", "beam", "make a variable") super approachable and fun so that it all makes sense and "sticks with you" to generalize when kids encounter these ideas down the road to higher math concepts and just overall, "I wonder what if..." thinking!
I've contacted the MIT Media Lab Octostudio team to present Frisbee golf to see if they might consider highlighting its features (we at c4k added score and multiplayer scripts) as a remix from their original "catch" game I discovered on their YouTube channel!
And as if that wasn't enough in my lesson plan development, the Octostudio graphic edit allows for some really cool optical illusions that I replicated from the team's community post. Using their examples, I worked with a c4k mentee to create a bike safety gif to send to a local non profit that provided this dedicated middle schooler a bike!
