"When (computer science) is combined with the so-called maker culture... a powerful recipe for progress emerges. Students learn by doing, sharing their work, and learning from each other..."

So, we bring another Saturday Enrichment class to a close, and no truer words than those above to support the value of teaching design with programming, and our introduction to 3D design over the past 5 weeks tapped into that power in each 4th and 5th grader I had the honor to teach! And just in time, 123D Catch technology is in the news; check out this Wired piece about the partnership between AutoDesk (the makers of Tinkercad and 123D Catch) and museums such as the Art Institute of Chicago and the Metropolitan Museum of Art to encourage "scanathons", allowing the public to take photo series at various angle from their collections to create 3D images. And check out the results we got from our SEP series introducing learners to this application. Pretty cool stuff.
