I had a chance to catch up with 2 fellow "makers" this week, Josh Ajima  and Brian Williford and got some really great advice about things to consider teaching 3D printing in a short, 5 week session for my upcoming Saturday Enrichment Series class for UVa. I'll be joining the Charlottesville Tinkersmiths on a weekly basis to check out the feasibility of buying and transporting a personal printer to create small hybrid printing projects like these where you make the wheels, gears, and other small parts that you construct building along with everyday components, like corks, cardboard, rubber bands, and yes, even duct tape! Can't wait...
