Baby Steps ....

So, you have to ask, "What good is learning to code using drag and drop languages, like Scratch, Alice and Kodu?"

And, this is a good question ...

I work as a computer programmer, and while programming platforms are moving away from development limited to a native language code editor to "select and click" custom editors, many big industries (in my case, Pharmaceutical Data Management) aren't there when it comes to using drag and drop programming. But, learning is all about "baby steps", successive approximation, "shaping" learning where you start with building mastery rewarding exact steps that start with easy to understand basics (Scratch drag and drop code editor) and building slowly to move toward more advanced target behavior (coding using an html/javascript code editor). Check out this "what language should I learn" response from the code.org folks. Personally, I'm a SQL programmer challenging myself to brush up on my javascript skills and using github to share project code. What's yours?
