"Learning and doing have become inseparable in the face of conditions that invite us to discover"

~David Edwards, Harvard professor, Wired, Oct 2014

Check out this nice opinion piece about how we need to teach kids for professions that don't yet exist via "discovery environments" (think: learning labs!). As a programmer, it's well accepted in our field that the best of us "learn on the fly", that pre, theoretical language learning without practical use is of limited value. It's what made others consider us "smart" for so long, when really, learning this way is the only way that really makes sense in our world. I'm glad to see this approach starting to seep into popular culture.
