Wondering what MIT Media Lab was up to this summer? This past spring, they released a new version of Scratch for K-2 users (5 to 7 year olds) called ScratchJr and decided to try out raising money via a Kickstarter campaign to allow them to make it a free ipad app. They raised their humble 25K goal within 2 days (!), the app is now available, and to date, they've raised $77,474, their goal to use this excess to fund a free android app. Exciting to see how all of us who've used Scratch over the years and participated in the recent beta versions have helped MIT Media Lab take animation programming to a new level to teach computer science, no matter your age.
