Apps can make you into a human helicopter! Take a look here for a great news story about how crowd sourcing works and lets us all chip in when disasters happen. The United Nations now uses a crowd source app, The Digital Humanitarian Network on their ReliefWeb site that captures Twitter tweets and mobile texts to identify urgent needs during crises, and Tomnod is currently organizing volunteers to scan up to the minute satellite images from the Indian Ocean to search for MH370 wreckage. The more we learn how to develop and integrate mobile technology across sotware platforms, the more it lets us all be citizen rescue workers. Jump in! We're all part of a world that wants to do good, and it's great technology makes this so.
